Skunk Hollow Country Store

Today we welcome Lisa from the Skunk Hollow Country Store. I have known Lisa for several years now through my wife Annette. I have been wanting to do a feature on Lisa since I started ESO. Lisa is a very successful artist and business person. Lisa's items can be found all over the world. Not only does she create pieces of art, her patterns are sought after for their quality and uniqueness. Take time to visit the links listed, there is so much to learn about this artist.

1. When did you start to think that you wanted to be an artist?

So far back I don't remember the age... I have always loved to create...finger painting was a passion of mine at an early age.Ü

2. What is your favorite medium to work in?

Can I say hair here? LOL If not it would have to be cloth and clay.

3. What is your current project?

A Time for Primitives website

(click on banner to visit site)

and an upcoming art magazine called "Art and Soul Collectibles"

While we do love our Prims, we also are passionate about the fine arts as well.

4. What is your main source of inspiration?

My Great Aunt Elizabeth Holmes Fisher who donated the Art Gallery (Elizabeth Holmes Fisher Gallery) on the campus of USC and also the Chapel of Silence at the University of Southern California. Aunt Elizabeth was an art collector who loved the English and Dutch masters and brought me many treasures from her trips abroad which I still cherish today.

Another huge inspiration in my life is my sister who in her own right was a fantastic artist.

6. Where do you sell besides Etsy?

I have been on the Internet with my Skunk Hollow Country Store website now for 5 years. It's a very busy site which I give credit to the fact I am a firm believer in advertising. I can often be seen in Country Sampler Magazine and on their website. This picture is of a couple of patterns that I have designed on Skunk Hollow Country Store. They are Jethro Tall and Mr. Boo's Wild Ride currently you can see them in Country Sampler magazine on page 66.

9. What 1 item would you like to sell from being on this feature?

Witch Hazel and her Cat (note her hair Ü)

This one is the fourth in a series of Witch Hazel Dolls... Witch hazel has a polymer clay face made by Melissa and Company and she was made by Lisa Johnson. She is a 22 inch doll not including the pointy hat. Her hair is a wonderful combed flax and her jacket is made of home spun. Her skirt and loons are black cotton. We painted her boots and Witch Hazel was totally made by hand with no sewing machine used. She also has the traditional mole on her nose and chin and little beady eyes.Cat is 9 by 7 inches and has a needle sculpted nose and mouth he also has thread whiskers and button eyes. We painted him then grunged him to prim perfection.

10. Do you have more than 1 Etsy shop?

No I don't, but here is my link for our Etsy group, A Time for Primitives, since so many of us from A Time for Primitives are on etsy we decided to go ahead and get a team together.
